Groundswell presents: Kana by Candleight as part of the Cream of Cornish Weekender.

With seven female members, a raft of rousing self-penned songs and a knack for bringing fresh harmonic inspiration to traditional pieces, KANA is one of the hottest local bands of the moment. With 2023-2024 packed with festival appearances (including Tunes in the Dunes, Great Estate and Rock Oyster), as well as support slots for Fisherman’s Friends and Angeline Morrison, an evening in their company amidst the flickering candles is not to be missed!

Where is the event taking place?

The event will be in central Newquay but the venue is still to be decided; we have secured a preliminary venue but are looking at developing a high-street 'meanwhile space' to hold the event. Full details wil be sent to all ticket-holders beforehand in good time.

Doors: 7pm

Start: 8pm

Bar: 

A licensed bar up will be up and running for the event

Getting to the event:  

Depending on venue, a nearby car park will be recommended (please consider using public transport!)

The Cream of Cornish Weekender

Groundswell brings a programme to Newquay of some to the best live performance and film to come out Cornwall in recent years. Watch out for theatre, comedy, live music and a selection of film shorts, all in the space of less than 48 hours. The Cream of Cornish Weekender is proudly part of BeNewquay Festival. Be Newquay Festival is brought to you by Cornwall Council project ‘Experience Newquay’ in collaboration with local project partners Visit Newquay and Love Newquay. Experience Newquay is a two-year project (due to run until March 2025) from Cornwall Council and funded by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme. The project aims to encourage a resilient year-round visitor economy, put a spotlight on the low season and embrace Newquay’s unique identity. Designed to attract an even flow of local and national visitors who sustainably engage with the town throughout the year. The project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
